Let’s get to know each other.

If you have difficulty believing that you can dance, then Merengue should be the first you try. This two-step marching dance (left, right, left, right, etc.) is easy to learn. It is the fun, social dance of the Dominican Republic that gets people marching and shaking their hips to its fast, happy music. Popularly danced with pretzel-like turns and patterns, partners often get tangled up, and enjoy the challenge of untangling.

Want to learn Merengue? You can easily find videos online to try it out at home. Finding dance instructors shouldn’t be that difficult either. Many Salsa dance instructors also teach Merengue, as well as many ballroom dance studios. To dance Merengue socially, seek out the Salsa dance events in your area, because you will often find Merengue music played by DJs at these events too.
